A firework is classified as a low explosive pyrotechnic device used primarily for aesthetic and entertainment purposes. The most common use of a firework is as part of a fireworks display.

Fireworks were originally invented by the Chinese, for entertainment purposes, as a natural extension of the Chinese invention of gunpowder. In China, they were first made by firework masters who were well-respected for their knowledge on the many complex techniques used to create truly dazzling firework displays. Such important events and festivities as New Year's and the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival were and still are times when fireworks are guaranteed sights.

A fireworks event (also called a fireworks display or fireworks show) is a spectacular display of the effects produced by firework devices on various occasions. Fireworks competitions are also regularly held at a number of places.

Festivals to mark the onset of winter and celebrations with bonfires are associated with many religions and cultures around the world. An important question that comes to the mind of every buyer of fireworks is: “from where does the seller import fireworks” or “how does the seller manufacture fireworks?”

Fireworks Supermarket begins the development process of fireworks a full year before the upcoming season. In the first phase, a team of pyrotechnicians visits China to decide the products range and finalize the actual effects of each product item. During the second phase, the product is then shipped to the National Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri for testing, to ensure the quality of the product and assign the name to each product. During the third phase, the company puts in an order based on the requirement of its customers. Last, but not the least, all the product orders must pass through the American Fireworks Standards Laboratories (AFSL) testing program, which ensues that all 1.4G explosives being produced are within the Laws and Regulations of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. After this, all the product orders have to pass through US customs. Once the product has passed through US customs, it is then shipped to its final destination and the product is ready to be distributed to the customers!

Fireworks Store Destroyed; Adjacent Property Unaffected

October 14, 2008

Murfreesboro, TN ‐ A fire that erupted at approximately 5:20 p.m. last night destroyed the building and contents of the Fireworks Supermarket in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, but all safety systems and protocols functioned as designed, there were no injuries and the fire was contained to the fireworks building, according to Michael Ingram, company president.

“The showroom manager reported the fire started in the storage area of the facility. He was giving instructions to the two (2) person night crew, when they reported hearing “pops” in the warehouse area of the building,” said Ingram. “When they entered the warehouse area, they discovered a case of fireworks on fire and while extinguishing the fire, more fireworks began going off,” reported Ingram.

“The fire department has not determined a cause for the fire yet,” said Sally Wilson, retail showroom director. “The products do not self‐combust,” explained Wilson, “so there had to be an external source of ignition. We expect the fire department will ultimately be able to determine the cause.”

ADS Security contacted the store to confirm the fire as a result of the building fire alarm being activated, and the security company also notified the Murfreesboro Fire Department.
Ingram indicated, “The fire developed exactly as expected of a consumer fireworks fire, and the Murfreesboro Fire Department contained the fire professionally and in accordance with standard procedures. We appreciate their efforts.” Reports indicated that although the building and contents were virtually destroyed; the fire was confined to the interior area of the building with no damage to adjacent buildings or property.

Ingram further stated, “Contrary to reports in the media, there were no ‘dangerous commercial‐type explosives’ stored in the building. Fireworks Supermarket stores and sells only consumer fireworks that have been tested and approved for sale by the American Fireworks Standards Laboratory in accordance with standards enforced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.”
